A fifty one – year -old man has axed his eighty one year old mother to death in an incident that has become a subject of investigations to the police in Lagos State.
The incident happened at United Estate in Sangotedo area of Ajah on Tuesday evening and the suspect initially escaped, before he was later arrested by the police.
The deceased woman, Dorcas Ayoola was killed by her son for her refusal to part with five hundred thousand naira from the WILL of one of her daughters.
The suspect, Oluwaseye Ayoola, who has been described as an “in serious person ” had reportedly demanded the money from his late sister’s WILL, when he killed the mother.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos confirmed the arrest of the suspect to the Metro.
It was gathered that Oluwaseye had on Tuesday evening accosted his mother and demanded for his share of the sister’s property.
The mother was said to have vehemently insisted that she was not going to give the money to the suspect leading to a serious argument between them.
The suspect initially told the police that he only pushed the woman and that she fell and hit her head on the ground.
Preliminary investigations by the police however showed that the suspect used an axe to kill the eighty one – year old woman.
The Lagos Police image maker told the Metro that the suspect was arrested after his younger brother reported the incident with the police at Ogombo police station.
Badmos said ” on 07- 02-17 at about 23.15pm,one Akontunde Ayoola of United Estate ,Sangotedo, Ajah ,Lagos State came to the station and reported that on the same date at about 16.00: hours he got information that his brother ,Oluwaseye Ayoola manhandled his mother over her failure to release an undisclosed amount of money
“On arrival at the scene he found his mother Dorcas Ayoola 81 dead in a pool of her blood “the Lagos police spokesperson added.
She also stated that “on the receipt of the information, the command’s detectives from Ogombo division launched a manhunt for the suspect and he was consequently arrested”.
Badmos also told the Metro that “upon interrogation the suspect confessed that he had gone to his mother to ask for some money but she refused to part with the money
She also stated that the police had deposited the remains of the old woman at the hospital for autopsy.
